National Information Sharing Coordination Centre

The National Information Sharing Coordination Centre (NISCC) in Seychelles performs several essential functions aimed at enhancing maritime security and coordination with RCOC. These functions include:

    • Data Collection: The NISCC collects maritime information from various sources, including national maritime authorities, maritime surveillance systems, and international partners.

  2. Information Sharing:
    • Domestic Sharing: The NISCC shares relevant maritime information with national stakeholders, including the Seychelles coast guard, port authorities, and other relevant agencies.
    • International Sharing: It communicates and shares maritime information with regional centres such as the Regional Coordination of Operations Centre (RCOC), as well as with other international partners involved in maritime security.
  3. Coordination of Maritime Security Operations:
    • National Coordination: The NISCC coordinates national maritime security operations, ensuring a unified response to maritime threats and incidents within Seychelles' territorial waters.
    • Regional Coordination: It works with the RCOC and RMIFC to coordinate joint maritime operations involving multiple countries, facilitating regional cooperation and collective action against maritime security threats.
  4. Maritime Surveillance and Monitoring:
    • Surveillance Systems: The NISCC operates and maintains maritime surveillance systems to monitor activities within Seychelles' maritime domain.
    • Situation Monitoring: It continuously monitors the maritime situation, providing real-time updates and alerts to relevant authorities about potential security incidents.

    • Incident Management: The NISCC coordinates the national response to maritime incidents, such as piracy, illegal fishing, smuggling and other illegal activities at sea
    • Resource Allocation: It ensures the effective allocation of resources and assets for maritime incident response, including search and rescue operations and law enforcement activities.
  6. Policy and Strategy Development:
    • Maritime Security Policies: The NISCC contributes to the development and implementation of national maritime security policies and strategies, aligning them with regional and international frameworks.
    • Strategic Planning: It engages in strategic planning to enhance Seychelles' maritime security capabilities and resilience against emerging threats.
